Yesterday was Twila and Kris's 4 year anniversary.  We weren't exactly taking anniversary photos, however.  In a matter of weeks they will be adding to their sweet little family.  Here's a little sneak peek for them, a little anniversary gift!!

This is my sister Kim and her family.  They will be moving to Winnipeg soon so I will see them even less than I already do.  I feel a little sorry for myself every time I think about it.  James will be starting his new position at Inner City Youth in January.  I'm so proud of you guys for what you are doing!  Winkler will miss you!

I decided to throw a bunch of photos from Tessa's first birthday party into the slideshow.  I feel they help tell the story of this beautiful family.

October 5, 2009 // Wedding
I cry a lot.  I cry pretty much during every episode of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.  I cry when I stub my toe, or when I got hit in the knee by a rock at the mud bog I went to with Dwayne.  I cry when other people cry, especially men (I find that especially heartbreaking).  I cry in both the arrivals and the departures gates at airports. I cry when I feel sorry for myself, or when I feel sorry for others, even criminals that I read about in the newspaper.  Yup, I cry a lot.  However, I generally don't cry at weddings.  Every so often, there's a wedding that really gets to my emotions.  Not the wedding as a whole, but some little detail, wether it be the father of the bride getting misty eyed, or the groom, or the vows just simply being beautiful.  Harv and Jenesa's wedding was one of those exceptions.  I cried.  Just a little watery eye business going on behind my camera.  Harv and Jenesa chose to do photos before the ceremony (which I love, by the way!).  We wanted to make the moment special when they first saw each other on their wedding day, so it was just the two of them.  Well, the two of them and me!  When Harv walked through that door and saw Jenesa, it was magic.  I'm not sure who's eyes watered first, theirs or mine!  What a moment.  These two make an incredible pair, and I'm confident that Harv will never quit looking at Jenesa the way he did that day.

The wind at Don and Tricia's wedding was beyond crazy, but I think they pulled off the windblown look!  Here they are, looking fabulous!

October 2, 2009 // Wedding
One of my favorite days of all time was an August day in 1999 in Saskatchewan.  I was living with my aunt and uncle and cousins for the summer, and my cousin Kelly and I both had the day off.  Finally a day off together and, of course, it was raining.  We headed down to the town pool where a couple of Kelly's friends were lifeguards.  We swam with them, the pool to ourselves as it was closed because of the weather.  On the walk home we turned the big open field into our own personal slip and slide, laughing til our stomachs hurt, sliding til we were muddy and grass stained.  Then we picked up a movie, pizza and junk food, and enjoyed the rest of the day in.  I'll never ever forget that day.  It's not always easy to make the best out of a rainy day, but it ended up being the best day of that entire summer.

James and Ashley married on August 7th.  It was raining as I drove to meet Ashley at the hair salon.  I went inside and there she sat, with a big smile on her face.  Sure, it was raining, but that didn't change the fact that she would be marrying the man of her dreams in a matter of hours.  The rain came and went... and came... and went... all day.  We held umbrella's as we went in and out of cars, and during some of the photos.  At times it stopped long enough for us to stay reasonably dry, or we endured the light mist for the sake of the photos.  We got creative in our location choices, meeting the family at Foothills Greenhouse in Winkler (a big thanks to them!!!) rather than outdoors.  Throughout it all, James and Ashley remained steady and strong, just excited to soon be married and not worried about the weather.  To me this showed their true character.  There's no test quite like standing out in the rain on your wedding day!

The ceremony was an even bigger testament to who these two are.  The church was crowded with hundreds of people gathered to support James and Ashley and their union.  I've never seen so many people at a wedding.  I could tell that each guest was there because they meant something to James and Ashley, and because James and Ashley meant something to them.  It was a powerful feeling.

The song I chose for James and Ashley's slideshow is O Praise Him by David Crowder Band.  I never asked James and Ashley if they have a song, so I hope they like this one.  I heard it on someone's blog recently, and instantly thought of the way I felt at their ceremony as the worship team played and as Pastor Corey spoke.  The feeling is hard to describe, but perhaps you'll feel it too.
