A couple pics from my shoot yesterday.  Despite the mosquitoes, and some hesitant participants, I think we can all agree that it went pretty well!

My apologies for the lack of blogging lately everyone!  I have a couple of excuses, but won't bore you with those here!  I'm hoping the weather will start to improve so I can get out and do a little more shooting, but in the meantime here is a super cute family to keep you entertained.  I also have a wedding I am in the process of editing, so hopefully that will be up soon!

I sat down at Meg's kitchen table and almost immediately Cohen was asking me to help him with his socks and shoes.  How cute is that?  I sometimes get nervous for sessions involving children, they are so unpredictable, and what if they hate me, or they're scared of me?!?!  But these two darlings were so outgoing, wanting to hold my hand and show me their back yard and their toys.  I knew it was going to be a fun time!

We headed out to Megan's dad's land, a place her kids just love!  There were horses, trees, lots of grass.... and many, many ticks.  Please don't be offended guys, but looking at these photos still makes me a little itchy!  We had a great time walking around, exploring, and getting some natural shots of the family.  Meg told me she's not into "posey", which was music to my ears because I like children as they are, and don't enjoy trying to get them to sit still for a formal shoot!

I had a great time with you guys, hope you love the little moments I've captured!

I'm sure you are all just as sick of it as I am.  Sick of me talking about "editing, editing, editing" and being so busy I can hardly take it.  This year has been such a learning curve for me.  It's the first year I've been so busy I've been turning down work left, right, and center.  Along with turning down work though, have been the people that convince me to take on the job even though I've already said I don't have time.  Shower me with compliments and I can't turn you down!  In the process, however, this has left me incredibly behind!  Taking on "just one more" portrait session means a couple of hours for the session, double that for editing, another hour or so for blogging.... and there we go, I'm a day behind.  Do that a few times... well, you get the picture.

I would thank all of you who have waited patiently (and not so patiently) while I catch up.  For the most part I've been able to deliver my product within the quoted time limit, but that hasn't always been possible.  I am learning for next year!

A part of getting behind has also been my struggle to find balance in my life.  It was so hard for me all summer turning down invites to the beach with my Mom, Sister, and niece and nephew.  Turning down walks for ice cream with my husband, and camping trips.  Turning down a trip to Saskatchewan to see a friend who lives overseas.  This fall I have tried to make up for it by saying yes more often.  My client's are important, but so is my family.  I started to worry that once I was finally caught up with my work, there would be nobody around to live my life with!  I am slowly learning to find some balance, a work in progress to say the least!

On to other things... This post would be boring without photos, so here's some images I just finished of Dorothy and Leighton and their beautiful little girl Kadia.  I went to MCI with Dorothy in grade 12 and it was so nice to reconnect with her.  Leighton grew up here in Winkler, and we also found another connection when we realized that he has relatives in Rosthern, Sask where I lived as a child.   It's such a small world.

This little family is just the cutest!  Enjoy!!!

A little peek at Holly and Cody's session from a few weeks ago.  Fall sure is making it hard to schedule sessions, with it getting dark so early.  We started a little later in the day than I would have liked, but at least the weather was good to us!!!

This is my sister Kim and her family.  They will be moving to Winnipeg soon so I will see them even less than I already do.  I feel a little sorry for myself every time I think about it.  James will be starting his new position at Inner City Youth in January.  I'm so proud of you guys for what you are doing!  Winkler will miss you!

I decided to throw a bunch of photos from Tessa's first birthday party into the slideshow.  I feel they help tell the story of this beautiful family.
